WHY CUP?

The Council of Urban Professionals’ (CUP) mission is to inspire, elevate, and empower the next generation of diverse business and civic leaders. Currently in our 13th year, we support the career progression of professional women and people of color in New York and Los Angeles by delivering compelling skill-building programs focused on accelerating careers and enhancing visibility; curating groups of top diverse professionals for impactful conversations and networking opportunities that result in community building, thought leadership, business development; and providing a platform for recognizing diverse talent and inspiring service.

Our vision for the next ten years is to become the voice of diverse professionals and, through the delivery of talent development activities and compelling thought leadership, be a catalyst for the promotion of women and people of color into positions of leadership.

This #GivingTuesday, our goal is to raise $25,000 to support these 2020 offerings:

· CUP Fellows Program: 2020 marks the 13th year of our landmark N.Y. Fellows Program and the 3rd year of our L.A. Fellows Program, developing 50 successful mid-career professionals in over 10 industries. This highly-selective program provides critical skills and professional development training to propel the Fellows into leadership and C-level positions. The Fellows Program has also prepared talented leaders to choose careers in civic engagement and to win political seats in public office. These programs were sustained in part to last year’s successful #GivingTuesday campaign.

· CUP Catalysts: In 2020, CUP has celebrated our CUP Catalysts - senior professionals of color who have achieved extraordinary professional success while making significant and impactful contributions to our community through volunteerism, philanthropy, board service and mentorship. In partnership with our corporate sponsors, CUP recognizes these changemakers throughout the year during our CUP Power Forums, covering the fields of Finance, Law, Media & Entertainment, and now Technology.
